Serenade in Somerset – Franklin's Hideaway

Franklin Cottage, a delightful 2-bedroom residence situated in Somerset, PA, offers guests a cozy retreat. Nestled within a five-block walking distance of the town center, where a variety of restaurants and shopping opportunities await, this charming abode provides an excellent base for exploration. Somerset itself boasts an array of outdoor activities, including skiing, hiking, fishing, and biking. The kitchen is fully equipped for culinary endeavors, and a washer and dryer are conveniently located in the lower level. Guests can also savor their morning coffee on the newly added deck, completed in the summer of ’22.

The Space

The living and dining area is an inviting, open space featuring large windows, hardwood floors, and ample seating. Sink into the comfortable reclining sofa while enjoying entertainment on the 50″ Smart TV.

The well-appointed kitchen includes an electric range, full-size refrigerator, and dishwasher. Various small appliances, such as a microwave, toaster, Crock Pot, Keurig Coffee Maker, and a regular coffee maker, are at your disposal. Cookware, dishes, pots and pans, bakeware, and utensils are all provided for your culinary needs.

There are two bedrooms in the cottage, each furnished with a queen-size bed sporting a new mattress and hardwood floors. Beds will be made up prior to guests’ arrival, and towels are thoughtfully supplied.

Two bathrooms are available, with the main bathroom situated between the bedrooms. It has undergone recent renovations and features a tub/shower combination. A second bathroom with a shower can be found in the lower level of the house.

A beautiful deck was added to the property in 2022, accessible through the kitchen patio door. It is outfitted with a table and chairs, perfect for dining or simply unwinding. The deck overlooks the tranquil backyard surrounded by trees, and guests frequently report sightings of deer in the yard.

Convenience is ensured with a washer and dryer located in the lower level, and safety is a priority with hardwired smoke detectors, a carbon monoxide detector, fire extinguisher, a first aid kit, and an emergency flashlight provided.

Guest Access

Guests enjoy exclusive access to the entire property, with the exception of the garage space, which remains locked. The parking area on the side of the house accommodates up to 2 cars, and a smartlock keypad system has been installed for a hassle-free check-in experience.

Other Things to Note

Please be aware that the driveway and parking area have an incline. While the house is nestled in a quiet neighborhood, there are no neighboring houses to the left; only a yard and trees. The road in front of the property is a town road, which may experience local traffic depending on the time of day.

The cottage was absolutely squeaky clean and beautifully decorated for our autumn escape. The beds had upscale high end bedding that was cozy and warm. Our host were so thoughtful that they left enormous cinnamon buns and fresh fruit for our stay. Each evening during dinner we sat on the back porch and watched a family of 6 deer cross the yard foraging for food. It was amazing! The cottage had everything we needed. We will definitely come back again and tell all of our friends and family about the cottage. Thank you Dan and Patti for a wonderful stress free getaway.

This was our 2nd stay at Franklin Cottage. It was as we remembered with a couple upgrades, the deck off the kitchen and window A/C units. The motion lights in the driveway are a great safety feature that we really appreciate. Even though the cost was a little more this year, the privacy and comfort of the home was worth it. Dan, Patti, and Bethany are very friendly and quick to respond to all questions. We highly recommend Franklin Cottage. Thanks for your hospitality!

The house was very charming, the owners thought of every detail, and more. The pictures just did not do the place justice, the owner has an eye for design & decor. The back deck was perfect for evenings & watching the fireflies. The front patio with its quaint flower box was the place to be in the mornings. Convenient drive to Fallingwater, Kentuck Knob, Ohiopyle State Park & Flight 93 memorial. Patti was so responsive, and anticipated our every need. I have stayed in many AirB&B's but this one packed a big impact, for a small space, that never felt small.
