The Space
Upon entering the driveway, the main house greets visitors. Originally constructed in 1810 as a blacksmith shop, the building evolved over time into a family residence, with the adjacent cottage, your stay, once functioning as a carriage house with stalls for horses and carriages.
Positioned directly behind the main house, the cottage offers parking in front and reveals a sweeping expanse of blossoming hillside. Although entry to the home is on ground level, a flight of stairs leads to the living area, which opens to the back door at ground level.
The lower floor features a small foyer with a welcoming table, the bedroom on the left, and the bathroom at the rear. The bedroom accommodates a queen-sized bed and a hanging rod for clothing. The bathroom includes:
- Sink
- Mirror
- Toilet
- Shower.
Ascending the stairs, guests find the living area complete with
- Sofa bed
- Table
- Chairs
- Bar
- Cooking appliances
- Roku-equipped TV
The space is versatile, catering to lounging, dining, work, and leisure activities. Beyond the back doors lies the pool area, enclosed for privacy.
The yard and pool area are shared with the host’s family and three dogs. Often seen tending to the gardens, enjoying outdoor play, or lounging by the pool, the host welcomes guests to partake in the space. Typically available from mid-May to mid-October, the pool offers relaxation. A designated portion of the property is fenced around the cottage, perfect for canine companions. Beyond this area, dogs should remain leashed.
Important: The kitchenette serves more as a bar area, equipped with seating for four, a sink, mini fridge/ice maker, Keurig, microwave, toaster oven, and plug-in electric burner for light cooking. Basic utensils, plates, and cups are provided, including poolside plastic cups and indoor glassware.
Guest Access
The cottage ensures complete privacy for guests. While the yard, gardens, fire pit, and pool are used regularly by the host’s family, guests are encouraged to enjoy these amenities as well. Parking is available in front of the cottage upon arrival. The entire two-acre property is open for exploration, and dogs can play within the fenced area. Outside this space, dogs must be leashed. Guests can observe honeybees on the property but should remain aware of their surroundings. The creek along the property perimeter provides a pleasant stroll.
Other Things to Note
Heating/air conditioning units are present on both the upper and lower floors. An upstairs ceiling fan provides added comfort.
