Pine Creek Cottage – Cozy Getaway at the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon

Pine Creek Cottage offers picturesque views of Marsh Creek and Pine Creek, nestled at the base of the PA Grand Canyon. It’s within walking distance of the Rails to Trails, the Big Meadows Canoe Access Area, and a local tavern, and approximately 10 miles from downtown Wellsboro, PA.

The Space

Experience the beauty of Pine Creek and the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon from our unique creekside cottage. Elevated on cement pillars in a distinctive “V” shape layout, the cottage features expansive decks and a level yard with a fire pit, allowing you to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the valley.

Inside, the cottage boasts an open floor plan with bedrooms at either end of the main living space, each equipped with a queen bed. Additionally, there are two pull-out sleeper sofas in the main living area. Large windows offer views from every room, and ceiling fans ensure comfort throughout. The main bedroom and living room have A/C units for added convenience. Please note that there are stairs to access the cottage, and it is not wheelchair accessible.

The cottage includes bikes, tubes, life jackets, and camping chairs for guest use, as well as yard games and fire pit accessories stored underneath the house. A fire ring and picnic table are situated under a shade tree, and a tire swing provides entertainment for the kids. Drinking water jugs are available, and there is a Keurig and coffee maker (bring your coffee pods or use the refillable pod provided). Linens, blankets, towels, toilet paper, and paper towels are provided.

The cottage has a smart TV in the living room (please don’t make any purchases unless you leave money for them upon departure) and WiFi, although occasional storms may disrupt the internet, and cell phone reception is limited.

The water in the cottage may have a sulfur smell if not used frequently, but it subsides with hot water use. Filters are regularly changed, but weather can affect water quality.

The property borders Marsh Creek, with Pine Creek accessible via a trail on the creek side of the Red cottage or the adjacent Big Meadows boat launch. Instructions for creek access will be provided. Depending on creek levels, access may be muddy, so water shoes are recommended.

Pets are allowed with prior notification and a $25 pet fee. Please clean up after your pet and cover any pet-related damages.

Guest Access

The entire house is accessible to guests.

Other Things to Note

Bugs and wildlife are common in the area. Chipmunks may try to access food or garbage left on the decks.

Depending on the time of year, various bugs may be present. If allergic to bees, it’s advisable to have medication on hand. Bug spray is available at the cottage, and citronella candles are provided.

Small dogs should be closely supervised due to the presence of eagles in the area.

You may spot eagles, foxes, geese, and ducks during your stay.

This house is in a unique location at the mouth of the PA Grand Canyon. It’s on a small lane, thru a corn field. The house had plenty of space and interesting decor details. From the back porch we saw millions of stars. We even saw a bald eagle in the trees right outside of the living room window! Close by is a place to take a covered wagon ride into the canyon. This was a fun and interesting place to stay.
