Luxurious Getaway in Scranton’s Historic District – The Woolworth Mansion

Nestled in the captivating historic district of Scranton, Pennsylvania, this stunning 8-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom home spanning 8,300 square feet offers an exquisite haven for expansive families and gatherings. Once the cherished Woolworth Mansion, this dwelling has been thoughtfully revitalized by the renowned home designer and painter Hunt Slonem.

The Space

Enter through the grand wrought iron gates and follow the horseshoe driveway that ushers you into the historic Woolworth Mansion. Within a brief stroll to the University of Scranton and local hospitals, and in proximity to downtown Scranton, this peaceful and opulent mansion promises to leave you awe-inspired. Originally designed by architect Lansing Holden in 1910, this residence belonged to Charles Sumner Woolworth, co-founder of the Woolworth Retail Empire. After undergoing meticulous renovations, this iconic property has been completely restored to its former glory.

Spanning 8,300 square feet, the mansion embodies relaxation and tranquility, complemented by its original architectural intricacies. Sunlight bathes the interiors through expansive windows, while towering ceilings adorned with authentic woodwork, an adjoining solarium, and capacious study hall and dining room create an atmosphere of unmatched sophistication. Five marble fireplaces, stunning original wood floors, and a spacious basement for ample storage contribute to the residence’s appeal. And in the event of power outages, the whole-house generator ensures continuous comfort. Adorning each room are chandeliers reminiscent of the Palace of Versailles, providing an elegant finishing touch.

The connected elevated courtyard lends itself to various events, while the additional 3,000-square-foot carriage house can serve as a preparation area or an oversized garage with living quarters above. Don’t let this truly exceptional property slip away. Whether you seek a lavish lifestyle in an exceptional city or wish to share this residence as an event venue, seize the opportunity to be astounded.

Yoel was very accommodating and flexible. He checked in a few times to make sure everything was going smoothly, he was very helpful and professional. The house was able to comfortably sleep 25 of us. We had an amazing time in the large hot tub, it was nice to relax after a full day at the water park. We will definitely be back!
