Historic Spring House – Cozy Retreat in Chadds Ford

The Space

Let us tell you more about this unique historic space! As you pull up to the private drive with space for three or more cars, you’ll immediately feel at home. During the summer months, relax on the deck or take a swing on the tire swing. Inside, the eat-in kitchen is fully equipped for your meal preparations. The living room features a comfortable sofa and chair, along with a chest filled with games for your enjoyment. Netflix is also available for entertainment. The bathroom boasts a inviting tub for a soothing soak. Two bedrooms are on the first floor, and the third is a loft-style space – a tough decision awaits you!

You’ll need to walk through the main bedroom to access the loft, and the main bedroom is right off the living room. The second bedroom is connected to the main bedroom and the bathroom. This is a quaint cottage-style layout, so if you prefer separate bedrooms, this might not be the best fit. Additionally, please be aware that this house is equipped with window units for cooling, not central air.

The Painter family constructed this house in the late 1700s, once part of a horse farm. Nearby, the William Painter farm served as a stop on the Underground Railroad.

Other Things to Note

The house is situated off Route One, which can get noisy during rush hour due to traffic. It’s not a secluded space.

There are two window AC units on the first floor and ample air circulation within the house. A portable AC unit is provided in the loft. Fans are also available.

The AC window units are removed during the winter months (November – April).

The first bedroom is off the living room, and you must pass through it to reach the loft. The second bedroom can be accessed from the first bedroom or the bathroom. The bathroom also has an entrance through the living room.
