Graystone Cottage – Quaint Cottage Within the Picturesque Strasburg

Serene. Revitalizing. Restful. These are the ideal terms to portray Graystone Cottage, situated on an operational dairy farm on the outskirts of the charming historical town of Strasburg in Lancaster County, PA. Erected in 1753, this newly refurbished limestone cottage spans 1000 square feet and was the inaugural dwelling on the expansive 135-acre homestead. With a charming French country aesthetic, this charming gem offers enchanting vistas of undulating hills, a babbling brook, and verdant farmlands.

The Space

The cottage comprises two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, an open-concept living room, and an eat-in kitchen that flows onto a secluded deck. The ceiling is adorned with original hand-hewn beams, while the hand-troweled plaster walls elegantly highlight the graceful contours of the deep window sills. Delightful cupboards are thoughtfully integrated throughout the cottage, and the downstairs bedroom is graced by an original brick wall, providing a captivating backdrop.

Indulge in cocooning yourself amidst the coziest throws in front of the gas stove fireplace, or enjoy a tranquil coffee ritual on the deck, observing the ethereal morning mist ascending from the nearby brook. Craft a delectable breakfast with the farm-fresh eggs thoughtfully supplied by your hosts, and relish the delicate sweetness of the homemade sticky buns and bread nestled within the breakfast basket.

Step outside for an enchanting stroll that unfolds amidst breathtaking beauty. Traverse the well-maintained trail that leads you past the main homestead house and through the gate into the meadow. The murmur of the brook accompanies you, and the panoramic farmlands stretch in every direction. Hone your birdwatching skills and spot bluebirds, cardinals, finches, chickadees, and warblers, among others. Keep your gaze keen, as you might be treated to the sight of a Red-Tailed Hawk, Ruffed Grouse, Bald Eagle, or even a White-Tailed Deer! Capture the splendor with your camera, whether it’s butterflies in flight, swaying fence row grasses, or the undulating hills. Throughout every season, from the tender corn shoots of spring to the icy brook of winter, the Cottage showcases the most breathtaking facets of nature.

Our family had the pleasure of staying at your beautiful property for 2 nights. The house was gorgeous clean and inviting. We loved the goat and friendly cats and seeing the cutest kittens. Thank you for the delicious bread and sticky buns. Donna and hubby Dana we’re so friendly and welcoming. Chatted when we approached but otherwise gave us our privacy. Highly recommend this place.

This cottage is a truly beautiful oasis. Donna and Dana were wonderful hosts, and our stay met or exceeded expectations. They were responsive when we had a question but otherwise gave us privacy to enjoy our family vacation. From a handwritten note greeting us upon our arrival to breakfast foods that met our dietary restrictions, the hosts added personal touches that made us feel so comfortable. They gave us the opportunity to see some work on the farm. My kids (and I) loved feeding the goats! The cottage was so clean and tastefully decorated. The hosts thought of everything we might have needed to be comfortable. The fireplace was cozy and beautiful and easy to use with a remote control. A wonderfully memorable experience which we highly recommend.
